Abaku is arithmetic for the 21st century

The curriculum for individual age periods of a child establishes adequate tasks and recommends activities from the Abaku START methodology to accompany them. Our curriculum is continuously supplemented with new activities as they are professionally tested. The recommendations are based on the experiences of educators and their didactic knowledge.

First period 5-8 years

Works with natural numbers in the range up to 20, 100, 1,000, 1,000,000

  • Can read, write, order, and compare them.
  • Uses equality and inequality signs.

Adds and subtracts numbers in the given range

  • Understands the mutual relationship between addition and subtraction and uses it in practice.

Solves simple tasks (from the real world) using basic mathematical operations

Multiplies single-digit numbers

  • Understands the mutual relationship of multiplication and division and uses it in practice.

Second period 8-11 years

Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides in the domain of natural numbers

  • From memory, adds and subtracts up to 100, multiplies and divides in the area of the basic multiplication table.
  • Uses commutativity and associativity.
  • Understands the mutual relationship between addition and multiplication and between division and subtraction and uses it in practice.
  • Performs calculation checks.

Searches, collects, and sorts data

  • Reads and creates simple tables and graphs.

Solves practical word problems and problems whose solution is quite independent of the usual procedures and algorithms of school mathematics

Third period 11–16 years

Computes in the domain of integers and rational numbers
