Videos from Upper Primary School – Practice Through Students' Eyes

Here you can watch a selection of videos showing how the Abaku method is used in real math lessons at the upper primary level. The main video series was created entirely by 7th and 8th grade students from Karel Čapek Elementary School, Prague 10 — including the script, direction, acting, editing, and subtitles. They wanted to help other students understand the Abaku method and to thank their teacher Alena Vávrová. We sincerely thank them for their excellent work and for allowing us to share it here.

Videos from Lower Primary School – Classroom Experience

Next, you can see a selection of clips from lower primary school. These videos were recorded by teacher Kristína Svobodová with her third-grade class, just two days before the end of the school year.

She describes her experience with the Abaku method as follows:
"We've been using Abaku since the first grade as a tool to develop mathematical skills. The children collaborate, show creativity, and learn to think in context. They adapt the games to their own ideas or even invent new rules. We also use Abaku as a relaxing activity after demanding work. The children love it and often play Abaku during breaks or in after-school care."

Reports and Competitions – Abaku in Action

Abaku has also appeared on Czech National Television, featuring both classroom reports and coverage of the national school league finals. You can also watch a short report from the Abaku tournament in Ostrava, where children competed in mental arithmetic using the Abaku method. Their honorary opponent was the Czech singer-songwriter and poet Jaromír Nohavica. A radio report about this event is also available for listening.
