Abaku Lab
The Abaku LAB online application offers an interactive space for developing mathematical skills, both individually and collaboratively, through games, exercises, and tasks. The app is flexible and allows teachers and students to adapt the environment to their needs - from teaching to experimentation. It includes tools for user management, feedback, result tracking, and other teaching modules.
License
An annual license for an unlimited number of users (students and teachers) costs 2442 CZK. You can get it in our shop. The license is available only to registered users with a valid license, which can be obtained by schools only. For more information, contact us at info@abaku.org. The operation of the application is sponsored by The Kellner Family Foundation and Abaku.
Students who do not have access to the app through their school can request free access in writing. They will be included in the "Abaku Academy" program. Request participation

Abaku LAB modules
- Game room - Training and competitions
- Play with yourself: individual training without an opponent or time limit.
- Play with a person: multiplayer game for 2 to 4 players. You can create a game or join an existing one.
- Play with a robot: compete with artificial intelligence at different difficulty levels.
- School league: a nationwide competition between schools with results available in weekly, monthly, and yearly rankings.
- Mini league: an internal competition within a school.
- Workshop - Assigning and completing tasks
- Teachers can assign tasks and exercises to individual students, classes, or the whole school.
- A task library with ready-made assignments is available, and these can be edited and shared.
- Administration - Managing students, classes, and teachers
- Quick student registration: teachers can quickly register new students. Students can also register themselves using a unique class code. If you need help, we will gladly register them for you.
- Registration without email: it is not necessary to enter private student email addresses. Usernames are chosen freely.
- Fast password setup: you can instantly set a new password for users who have forgotten theirs.
- Mass moves: students can be moved easily between classes, both in bulk and individually.
- Communication - Chat and interaction
- Public chat: communication between users from different schools.
- School chat: internal communication between students and teachers of one school only.
- Private messages: communication between students and teachers.
- Teachers can moderate communication and manage student behavior in the chat.
- Task library
- A shared task database for teachers where they can create their own assignments or use editable prepared ones.
- Statistics
- You can track detailed results of your students for free in the Lab Stats app. We create access on request. Request access
- User profile and trophies
- In the profile, a student can find their game data and earned trophies. These trophies, symbolizing mathematical achievements, can also be obtained physically in our e-shop (for example as patches).
- Types of trophies:
- Number trophies: discovering mathematical constants.
- Counting trophies: a reward for perseverance.
- Complex trophies: collecting all keys shows the player's versatility.
- S.K.I.L.L.: a method of evaluating arithmetic skills based on different activities in the app.
Notice - Didactics
Simply launching the app does not make a child an expert in arithmetic. We recommend introducing children to the rules and the environment of the app so they do not become frustrated. Follow the methodology:
- Read Abaku Start and Abaku tutorial I.
- Practice reading Abaku numbers (for example 347, 615) using Abaku Rows.
- Watch the video tutorials.
- Once children master the basic skills, you can register them in the app.
Technical Description
The Abaku LAB application is developed in TypeScript (React and Node.js) and runs on AWS. The development has been taking place for several years in cooperation with Qest and more than 30 experts have contributed to it. Development of the application continues and improvements are added continuously.
